With the increasing numbers of dropout and professionals leaving their core jobs to look after the government jobs, I am a bit disappointed and need your opinion on why we are so helpless with our education system.

Will we be ever able to become Vishwaguru?

I am a government employee and I don’t look forward to work here. Your assumption may not be right that professionals prefer to work here. As per my opinion, may be that ‘easy go happy life’ wanting people prefer government jobs.

I agree with ramyaemandi, however, job security is another reason. Private sector is demanding and needs lot of hard work.

I completely agree with the proverb “The grass is always greener on the other side”.

If you meet a lot of people from different walks of life and you ask them to tell which job is better.

I bet, 90% Indians will tell you government job is Better.

If you further inquire about this. They’ll tell you about the benefits, which are ridiculous.

  1. Less stress: There exists no job in this world that doesn’t bring stress at one point of time. Even IAS & IPS officers are under immense pressure.
  2. Job security: If you are fired from a private firm. You can join any other firm later or sooner. But Govt. employees have to work in the same department & do not have any other source of income, if suspended or fired (this is more horrific)
  3. Infrastructure & working environment: You can enjoy office parties, trips etc only in private job. In government job, you’ll have to work there without good office infrastructure. Although other benefits like paid leaves, maternal leaves, holidays are better in govt. job.
  4. Selection Procedure: Now a days government exam selection procedure has become way too difficult. Exams like IBPS RRB, NET, AIIMS, SSC, Civil services are really tough. Also there is less transparency in some exams due to reservation & nepotism. So, for Open category candidates private jobs are more preferable.
