I do not think I need to say much here. People who follow politics know what I am talking about….I myself think that BJP would have won if the marketing guy Prashant Kishor was on their side..Look what he did to Nitish, despite Lalu and Congress on his side, the guy made sure Nitish does not lose.

If one person holds the cards for victory of a political party, then not good sign at all. Having said that, keeping/rewarding key performers and removing deadwoods (like Shatrughan Sinha) must be the mantra.

+1
Agree, shouldn’t be reliant on one person

It is depressing to know that in a country of 1.25 billion, Prashant Kishore has no competition. Even more depressing is the fact that elections can be won by marketing alone.

There is a lot of talent around and I am pretty sure that the guy will soon be brought down to where he started from….It’s just that people are still getting a hang of the new weaponry. A little more time and the guy will be history….

Hell Yeah!!!

From the news stories I have been reading – I think one of the biggest reasons for BJP loss was  – Prashant Kishore defecting to Nitish Kumar’s side. He has been the brain behind LS elections and other state elections for Modi. He is politically agnostic, and hence, just wanted a cabinet post to provide in national policy matters after the victory of LS elections. BJP being an ideological party, could not give cabinet posts to anybody from outside the party. This pissed him off and he went to Nitish’s  side to teach BJP/Modi/Shah a lesson. Whatever retorts Nitish came up with during the campaign were actually coming from this guy – Prashant Kishore.

Apparaently, Prashant Kishore gave a presentation to Gandhi family to provide service of professional campaign management before 2014 elections, but, Gandhi family didn’t buy into him. And then he came to Modi – whom he impressed to get the service contract for campaign management for LS elections.

He was the reason why BJP got a very high seat-vote-share ratio in LS elections and why JDU+ got a high seat-to-vote-share ratio in Bihar elections. In Bihar, BJP got ~35% vote share, but, couldn’t convert them to seats.

These stories, if true, means, he can pick any Tom, Dick or Pappu and make him/her a chief/prime minister. I know Modi’s work is much important to have swayed by one person, but, it seems reasonable that a professional campaign manger can win you elections. My worry though, is that, so far India has only one such super-successful campaign manager who doesn’t know which party represents the “Greater Good”.

Unlikely. The BJP was roughly on par with JDU in the seats they contested against each other. It lost more against JDU and (surprisingly) Congress. I don’t think Prashant Kishore made that much difference. The arithmetic was anyway against BJP.

No, It was never easy to win bihar with such a low level of education penetration and with 20%+ muslims and 70%+ reservation beneficiaries. He only managed to increase the winning percentage, which any good marketing person’s job is.

Well, the issue is not about Prashant Kishore alone. That, after two decades of presence in national politics, they have not been able to create an intellectual ecosystem, media base etc, is the biggest problem for them. Most of the civilised right/centre right voices on the social media are the ones who are acting on their own volition, otherwise BJP will be reduced to the likes of Mr. Vijayvargiya.

It is always how you deliver the message to the people. Kishor managed to delive Nitish and Lalu in a better way than Bjp delivered Modi. It is like how to choose between brands…

Once you become a brand, you earn good enough to lure people the second time. Moreover if the case is what you say it is, than the history of this country stands proof that you my friend are highly mistaken

I don’t think so. BJP could have won Bihar election. under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah but opposition parties are spreading bad and negative message about what has BJP did after one year of government formation.
